10-12 depending on ages
2 cups whole wheat flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
1/3 cup cane sugar
1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.1 1/2 cup milk (organic if possible)
Add the milk to the dry ingredients and mix it well until batter is smooth.1/2 cup Lightly Roasted Almond Butter, Organic by Artisana
Add the almond butter. If it is firm from being refrigerated, first warm it up to make it easier to mix into the batter. Mix into batter until smooth.1/4 cup dried cranberries (nothing artificial!)
Add the cranberries to batter, and pour into loaf pan. Place in preheated oven and bake for about 50 minutes, check with a toothpick at center to make sure it is ready.
Add cinnamon. Try blueberries instead of dried cranberries. You can add dark chocolate chips for a sweeter, more cake-like treat. Slice thin and top with fruit spread or more almond butter! For those sensitive to dairy, replace cow's milk with unsweetened almond or rice milk. For those sensitive to gluten, replace flour with gluten-free baking mix. Try making it into muffins!
