Banana Jam (or spread)     Print this Recipe

Comments

Create the new "jam" to spread on toast, muffins, or nut butter sandwiches!  Simply mash a banana and add some lemon juice. That's it!  It's delicious and there's no added sugar.  Your kids will love it.  We got this great idea from a youth counselor at a YMCA!

Here's what the Kid Kritics had to say: "Tastes so good, more than the world.  Seconds, PLEASE!  I loved it.  Exquisitive.  Supreme, delicious, delightful.  Tastes like a rainbow with golden flowers and a bird landing on it .  I didn’t like it, I LOVED it!!!"

1-2, depending on ages

Instructions

  1. 1 banana, ripe

    Mash with a fork.
  2. 1/2 tsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed

Stir into banana. Use in place of jam, jelly, or preserves as a spread. For best results, use immediately. You may cover and store in the refrigerator, but it will start to brown on the surface exposed to air.

Options

You may omit the lemon juice but the banana will brown more quickly.  Add a dash of cinnamon.
