Prep Time

5 minutes

Cook Time

10-20 minutes

Number of Servings

8 cups

Instructions

  1. 64 oz 100% apple cider or apple juice, unsweetened (organic if possible)

  2. 3 cinnamon sticks

    Add to saucepan
  3. 4 whole allspice berries

  4. 6 whole cloves

Place in a spice ball or tie up in cheesecloth. Add to saucepan
  5. 1 orange

Cut orange into slices. Add half to the saucepan and save the rest for garnish. Simmer 10-20 minutes. Serve warm in mugs. Garnish each with a cinnamon stick and orange slice.

Options

Add chopped apple.  Add a small piece of ginger and 1-2 star anise to the spice ball.  Use already prepared unsweetened mulling spices instead of individual spices.  Think the citrus rind made it a little bitter?  Add 1-2 Tbs pure maple syrup or honey.

Grocery List

  • 64 oz 100% apple cider or apple juice, unsweetened (organic if possible)
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole allspice
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1 orange
