Healthy peanut buttery bars with pretzels and a touch of sweetness from honey!
350 degrees F
9 inch pan, mixing bowl, wax paper, small saucepan
10 minutes
15 to 20 minutes
4 to 6 depending on ages
1/3 cup Organic Whole Wheat Pretzels (by Snyder's of Hanover)
Place in sealed plastic bag and crush into small bite-sized pieces2 Tbs ground flax seeds
2.5 Tbs wheat germ
1/3 cup rolled oats
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and set aside.1/4 cup Organic Peanut Butter with Omega-3 (by Once Again)
1/4 cup Organic Raw Honey (by Wholesome Sweeteners)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
In a small saucepan add the peanut butter, honey and vanilla and place in low heat. Mixing just until the peanut butter softens and mixes easily. Pour over dry ingredients in the bowl and mix well. Spread the mixture into the baking dish sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Using wax paper press down the mixture to flatten it. (Make sure you press the mixture well with the wax paper or it will be crumbly.) Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
For an extra treat, add 1/3 cup of chocolate chips! For a protein boost, add 1/3 cup of chopped nuts! And for added fruits, add 1/3 cup of dried cranberries, raisins or mixed dried fruit.
