A cheesy tuna casserole with a fun twist - EatSmart Naturals Whole Grain Cheese Curls! Sure to be a family favorite.
350 degrees F
medium saucepan, 2-quart baking dish
10 minutes
20 to 25 minutes
4 to 6, depending on appetite
1 box Classic Mac & Cheese or Shells & White Cheddar, by Annie's Homegrown
In saucepan, cook pasta in boiling water until just al dente.Milk, low fat (organic if possible)
Prepare cheese sauce according to package directions. Mix with pasta.1 can dark tuna packed in water, drained (Tongol or Skipjack if possible)
3/4 cup frozen peas
Mix tuna and peas with pasta. Place the mixture in a buttered 2-quart baking dish.1 1/2 cups crushed Whole Grain Cheese Curls, White Cheddar Cheese by EatSmart Naturals
Place the Cheese Curls in a sealed plastic bag and using a rolling pin crush them to a coarse mixture. Top the pasta mixture with crushed Cheese Curls. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. Serve warm!
You may substitute 3/4 to 1 cup chopped cooked chicken or turkey for the tuna. Try frozen mixed vegetables instead of peas. Add paprika and parsley for added nutrients and color!
